Zoology
Welcome to the Department of Zoology
Zoology is the branch of biology concerned with the study of animals and animal kingdom. It is also known as animal biology. The study of Zoology includes the interaction of animal kingdom in their ecosystems such as classification, habitat, structure, embryology, distribution, evolution, and extinct species. It includes diverse approaches such as electron microscopy, molecular genetics, Molecular biology etc.
Our goal lies to provide a comprehensive understanding in different aspects of Zoology. Department provides quality education to the student community. We have well , MPSC selected, ten teaching staff including, Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors . Two specializations, Animal physiology and Molecular Biology are offered for the post graduate course. Different disciplines of zoology like Chordates, non-chordate, Animal Physiology ,Molecular biology, Endocrinology, Ecology and Environment are included in the syllabus. Department every year installs a vibrant zoological society with its manifold activities pertaining to different areas of biological sciences The leadership and planning skills are tuned and perfected by conducting various competitions under the umbrella of the society.
Departmental Museum is one of the prestigious museum in Vidarbha region with about 1065 animals from different phyla .
