Welcome to the Department of Home Science

Department of Home Science was established in 1965 with Home Economics subject at BA level. Further B.Sc. Home Science undergraduate degree program was a commenced from 1980. The post graduate program with specialization in textile and clothing was started in the year 1983. It is now recognized as a premier institution in the Vidarbha region for imparting home science education.

Vision

The Department aims to inculcate and uplift students through excellence in education, research and extension by developing innovations. Our subject prepares the students to develop values, emotions and skills to promote personal, family and social responsibility.

Mission

• Curricular and Co-curricular activities at both UG and PG levels faculty strives to achieve.
• Impart knowledge to the students regarding various vocation areas of nutrition, textiles, clothing and child care. Make students aware about career opportunities available to them and to assist them to achieve them.
• Enlighten and create wide spread awareness regarding environment protection through training workshops, seminars as a social responsibility.
• Strengthen linkages with other teaching and research institutions.
• Undertake skill development training for various target groups of the society as a social responsibility.
• To enhance entrepreneur skills for professional careers.

• Workshop on preparation of Eco Friendly Ganesh Idol with paper mache and clay; painted with natural colours.
• Global environment awareness discuses greatly concerned with plastic waste, plastic pollute in many ways, so contributes for “Plastic Free” campus.
